From July 30 to August 12, the city of Bangkok, Thailand is hosting the Asian Championship among youth and boxers under 22 years old. The Uzbekistan Boxing Federation reports that members of the U-19 national team are showing their potential in this prestigious tournament.
Throughout the day, 12 of our boxers fought to reach the final, representing our country with honor. Each of them acted selflessly in the ring and achieved results that fill fans with pride and joy.
— Maftuna Musurmonova, in the -48 kg category, defeated Vietnam’s Thao Than Lus with a confident 5:0 victory.
— Sevara Mamatova, in the -60 kg weight, convincingly beat Kazakhstan’s Alina Kudaigenova. During the bout, she knocked her opponent down. The judges awarded a 5:0 win.
— Raykhona Qurbonboeva fought in the semi-final in the -70 kg weight category against Kyrgyzstan’s Zarina Asanova and won by technical knockout in the second round.
— In -75 kg, Maftuna Yangieva lost to China’s Tongtong Gu by a 2:3 judge decision and finished the tournament with a bronze medal.
— Rukhshona Parpiyeva, in -80 kg, lost 0:5 to Kazakhstan’s Kuralai Yeginbaikyzy and ended the championship in third place.
— Abdurakhmon Mahmudjonov, in the -60 kg semi-final, lost 2:3 to Kazakhstan’s Tortubek Adilet.
— Jahongir Zayniddinov defeated China’s Yuheng Li 5:0 in the -65 kg category and advanced to the final.
— Abdulaziz Juraqulov also reached the final, defeating Iran’s Saleh Roozbahani 5:0.
— Muhammadjon Yaqubboev beat Kyrgyzstan’s Usman Kaparov 5:0 in the -75 kg weight category.
— Norbek Abdullaev achieved a confident 5:0 victory over South Korea’s Heon-Seung Jeong in -80 kg.
— Samir Sobirov secured a final spot by defeating another South Korean boxer, Damheon Park, with a dominant 5:0 win in the -85 kg category.
— In +90 kg, Islam Salikhov defeated Iran’s Abbas Garshasbi on points and advanced to the final.
— Encouragingly, Sobirakhon Shakhobiddinova in +80 kg advanced directly to the final based on the draw.
These results are a source of pride not only for the boxers but also for the people who support them. We hope the victory parade continues in the finals.
