In the Paris club PSG, the summer transfer window continues in an intense manner. The team’s head coach Luis Enrique expressed his opinion about one of the latest decisions — the purchase of a new keeper instead of the main goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
“Of course, making such decisions is never easy. There are always different opinions about this, and criticism also comes. But personally, I do not see any problems here. As a team, we clearly know in which direction we need to move, and for me that is the most important. Therefore, we are calm,” — said Luis Enrique in his press statement.
The Spanish coach also addressed the criticism, noting that he fully understands the opinions of fans and journalists. However, he emphasized his firmness and that there are serious reasons behind this decision. “At the moment, I cannot say anything about some PSG players, because it is not interesting for me. The main thing is the direction in which the team will develop,” — Enrique added.
According to reports, the Paris club acquired young French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from “Lille” for 40 million euros plus 15 million in bonuses. This transfer further strengthens the competition among PSG goalkeepers, since Russian keeper Matvei Safonov is also in the squad.
Thus, under Enrique’s leadership, a new competitive environment is being formed in PSG that will strengthen the defensive line. The future of Donnarumma still remains open, but the arrival of Chevalier is being evaluated as a new stage in the Paris club’s transfer strategy.
