One of the most interesting transfer topics observed in the English Premier League has concluded. According to The Athletic, Crystal Palace defender Mark Guehi will not move to Liverpool and will remain with his team for the time being.
It has been reported that the central defender initiated the agreement process with Liverpool and even went through a certain stage of a medical examination. However, the transfer, anticipated by all the fans, did not materialize.
The key factor behind this decision is the firm stance of Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner. He stated that Gehyi, one of the team's key players, cannot yet be released from the club. Until a suitable and reliable replacement for the captain is found, the defender's departure will not be considered at all.
However, Palace's plan to acquire Igor Julio from Brighton failed. If this deal had been completed, Gehyi's transfer to Liverpool would have been highly likely.
As a reminder, the 24-year-old defender's current contract with the Eagles runs until next summer. Therefore, questions about his future transfer could keep fans interested for another season.
Thus, Liverpool fans will not yet be able to see Mark Geh at Anfield, but he is expected to play an important role in Crystal Palace's defense for another season.
