Abduqodir Husanov became the first Uzbek footballer officially registered for Manchester City's Champions League group stage, Kursiv reported.
During the 3rd round Premier League match against Brighton, Husanov was injured in the 84th minute and will miss two matches. Head coach Pep Guardiola praised the player's speed and creativity and said, "Everything will be fine with Huso."
The group stage starts on September 16–18 and in the new format, 36 teams will play 8 matches — 4 at home, 4 away. In the first round, Manchester City will play against Napoli on September 19, then travel to Monaco for a match on October 2. Matches against clubs from Spain, Germany, Norway, and Turkey are also expected in the group.
Besides Husanov, the list also includes stars like Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, and others.
