Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola is reportedly ready to let go of holding midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who has struggled for playing time with the team.
The former England international has recovered from his injury, but competition for a spot in the starting lineup remains tough. Ballon d’Or winner Rodri and young Spanish talent Nico Gonzalez have fully earned Guardiola’s trust. The coach continues to rely on players suited to the Spanish style of football.
Phillips has been without regular playing minutes in recent months. One of the clubs showing serious interest in him is Everton. According to Football Insider, the Liverpool club intends to sign the experienced midfielder on loan until the end of the season.
Manchester City’s management is reportedly open to this move. Guardiola has realized that Phillips does not fit his system and is willing to let him leave to gain more opportunities elsewhere.
Kalvin Phillips’ current contract with City runs until June 30, 2028. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is estimated at around 12 million euros.
Fans hope that Phillips can rediscover his best form at his new club — after all, he remains one of the hardest-working midfielders in English football.
