Reports are widely spreading that several clubs in the Russian Premier League, particularly the multi-time champion "Zenit," are interested in the attacking footballer of the Uzbekistan national team, Oston Urunov. The reason for this was the two goals he scored against the Egyptian national team in the Al-Ain Cup 2025 international tournament held in the United Arab Emirates in November. It was also reported that the Italian grand club — the "Juventus" team — showed interest in the 24-year-old player.
Official Denial from "Zenit" Club
However, the position of the "Zenit" club regarding this hype also became known. Journalists from the Euro-football publication clarified the issue: "St. Petersburg's "Zenit" club is not paying attention to the former 'Spartak Moscow' midfielder Oston Urunov. According to our information, the club is looking for a central midfielder during the winter transfer window. The main focus will be on South American and local players," the Euro-football report states.
The Difficult Path in Russia
It is worth recalling that the footballer, a product of "Pakhtakor," went through an unsuccessful period in the Russian Premier League before heading to Iran. After successful performances for "Navbahor" and "Lokomotiv," the legionnaire who joined the "Ufa" squad in 2020 was later targeted by all leading Premier League clubs. However, his choice of the "Spartak" option turned out to be a mistake by fate. Oston, whose talent was not sufficiently appreciated at "Spartak," was also unable to achieve the expected result at "Ufa" and "Ural."
