Flik: Accusing the Defender of Guilt Is Unjust

Barcelona's head coach Hans-Dieter Flick shared his thoughts on the team's performances this season. In their most recent Champions League match, the Catalans suffered a 3-0 defeat against Chelsea.

"It's easy to say the game was bad or that this wasn't the Barcelona we want to see when we concede three goals and lose. But not everyone understands what is required to play with a high defensive line.

This is our style – it's not just the defenders, but also the forwards and midfielders who initiate pressing. This is what I demand from my players.

Blaming the defense alone is unfair because if our entire team doesn't press correctly, problems arise. I want to explain this clearly.

I am optimistic because we did some things well. However, we need to improve in starting attacks with pressing.

I want to see in matches what I see in training – and what I see in training is pleasing," Flick said during a press conference. On Saturday, November 29, Barcelona will host Alavés in La Liga.
