Turkey's "Galatasaray" club defender Eren Elmali has been suspended from sports activities within the club due to suspicions of involvement in match-fixing. The restrictions have been applied not only by the club but also by the Turkish national team (as was expected).
This incident is the latest echo in the ongoing corruption scandal within Turkish football. According to Portugal's A Bola publication, the report mentions over 1,000 players, all of whom may face suspension from their professional activities.
Elmali has not been playing for "Galatasaray" for a long time. He was transferred from "Trabzonspor" in February 2025 for €4 million.
During the current season, he has managed to score three goals.
