There is an unexpected change at the top of the French league standings. Following Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) defeat to Monaco, Lens secured a 2–1 away victory against Angers, elevating them to the top position on the table.
It is worth noting that this is the first time in 21 years that Lens has led the French league. The last instance of this was during the 2004/2005 season; however, at that time, it occurred during the third round, early in the season.
Additionally, Lens has won the league title only once, back in 1998. In the next round, the new leaders of the French league will again play an away match, this time against Nantes.
