FIFA Award Given to Trump Faces Criticism

The President of the Norwegian Football Federation, Lise Klaveness, has criticized FIFA’s decision to award former U.S. President Donald Trump the Peace Prize. The award was presented last Friday during the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Lise Klaveness expressed her disapproval, questioning the criteria used for granting the award. "When there are no objective criteria for the award, no panel of judges, and when decisions are not based on the FIFA council's resolutions, this risks becoming a veiled method of turning FIFA into a politically influenced organization," Klaveness said in an interview with the NRK television network.
