Safonov's Debut Match for PSG Evaluated


A member of the Russian national team coaching staff, Vitaliy Kafanov, assessed Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Matvey Safonov's performance during the Ligue 1 Round 15 match against Rennes, which ended in a resounding 5-0 victory. "It is very important for a goalkeeper to make his mark during critical moments.

If Matvey had not saved the team at crucial moments, the game could have ended differently," Kafanov said in an interview with "Sport-Express." Notably, this match was Safonov's debut appearance for the Parisian team this season.

Matvey joined this top French club in the summer of 2024. His current contract is valid until the end of June 2029.
