Tuchel Shares Thoughts on World Cup Draw

What did Tuchel say about the World Cup draw?

The head coach of the England national football team, Thomas Tuchel, shared his opinion on the group stage draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His team has been placed in Group L, where they will face Croatia, Ghana, and Panama.

"A tough opening game, a challenging group. Croatia and Ghana are regular participants in the World Cup, proud and strong nations. Panama? I don’t know much about Panama yet, but we’ll definitely learn more about them by the time the tournament starts," Tuchel said in an interview with ESPN.

"My only experience with group-stage action in major tournaments is related to the Champions League. I have always approached group stages with the utmost respect and focused on winning within the group.

It’s always difficult, especially now, but we believe in ourselves and will arrive at the tournament well-prepared. We haven’t made any specific requests regarding the schedule; we accept the circumstances as they are.

We have been given more days for preparation, but the schedule will become packed afterward. No opponent can be overlooked.

Of course, Croatia stands out in our group as the top-ranked team from the second pot, but Ghana is always rich in talent and capable of delivering surprises. Panama, too, will try to make the most of their role as underdogs. It’s crucial to respect each team," said Tuchel.

Currently, England is ranked fourth in the FIFA rankings.
