Diego Simeone, head coach of Atletico Madrid, shared his thoughts following the team's UEFA Champions League match against PSV. The "Colchoneros" secured a 3-2 victory in the encounter.
Atletico conceded a goal in the 10th minute of the game, but equalized before halftime thanks to a goal by Julian Alvarez. At the beginning of the second half, goals by David Ganko and Alexander Sörloth brought three points to Atletico.
The hosts managed to score a consolation goal only at the end of the match. "We applied high pressing from the very start of the game, though PSV managed to score on a counterattack.
We did not abandon our plan and continued to put the goalkeeper under pressure. I don’t think there is any team capable of maintaining absolute dominance across all 90 minutes.
This is the Champions League; sometimes the opponent takes the initiative. We never eased up on the pressure, and that pleases me greatly.
The game could have ended 3-3 or even 4-2," Simeone said via UEFA's press service. Atletico Madrid now has 12 points after six group stage matches.
