Mostovoy Evaluates Safonov's Sixth Title with PSG

Former footballer Alexander Mostovoy shared his thoughts on Matvei Safonov's recent success with PSG. Yesterday, the goalkeeper secured his sixth trophy with the club and became the decisive hero in the final against Flamengo: he saved four penalty kicks in the shootout following the match.

As a result, the Parisians won the Intercontinental Cup. Mostovoy stated that he is taking this victory calmly.

"Good, well done. What's surprising about that?

We’ve been in football all our lives. Now there are so many trophies, tournaments are held almost every month.

That's why I take this calmly. Furthermore, we’re talking about a team that won the Champions League last season," he told "RIA Novosti Sport."

At the same time, Mostovoy praised Safonov for making the most of his opportunity. In his opinion, if not for an injury, PSG's main goalkeeper Shevale would have continued playing.

Safonov has featured in PSG's last four matches. Before this, he had not played in the 2025/2026 season.
