
A controversy has emerged in Turkey as the president of Istanbul's Fenerbahçe football club, Sadettin Saran, has been detained by police. The reason—traces of cocaine were reportedly found in his hair samples.
Following this, Istanbul's gendarmerie apprehended him. According to reports, the 61-year-old Saran is not only suspected of drug use but also of possibly selling narcotics, leading to the investigation.
This suspicion is indirectly supported by a press release issued by the Istanbul gendarmerie. Saran had recently assumed his position in Fenerbahçe's leadership in September 2025.
