Barcelona central defender Andreas Christensen will remain sidelined for an extended period due to a severe injury. The 29-year-old Danish player sustained an injury before the recent match against Villarreal, which will keep him out of action for approximately four months.
Christensen was reportedly stunned upon learning the recovery timeline; however, the club is ready to support him. According to Esport3, Barcelona President Joan Laporta is planning to offer the player a one-year contract extension, contingent on agreeing to a salary reduction.
Earlier reports indicated that the central defender was willing to extend his contract and accept a pay cut. This season, Christensen has played in 17 matches for Hans-Dieter Flick's team and scored one goal.
