Signing Benfica defender Nicolás Otamendi will not be easy for Barcelona. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club is considering adding the 37-year-old Argentine in the winter transfer window. However, Portuguese side head coach José Mourinho has asked the “Eagles” board to finalize talks to extend Otamendi’s contract as soon as possible. The goal is to prevent his potential move to the “Blaugrana.” Nicolás Otamendi joined Benfica from Manchester City in 2020 for €15 million. His current contract with the Portuguese club runs until June 30, 2026. This season, the defender has played 32 matches, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists.
