Pisarov explains why Russia’s squad list is expanded

Nikolay Pisarov, who works on the coaching staff of the Russia national team, commented on why up to 35 players are included in the expanded squad list. This was reported by euro-football.ru.reports.

According to the specialist, the coaching staff will not put players’ health at risk even in friendly matches: if even minor signs of injury appear, players are rested.

“Each time, a certain number of players drop out of the list for various reasons. As a result, the list is reduced to a squad sufficient for two matches in one international window,” Pisarov was quoted as saying by Chempionat.

Russia’s next friendly matches are expected to take place in March 2026.
