Liverpool head coach Arne Slot responded at a press conference ahead of the Premier League Round 19 match against Leeds to a question about whether the teams’ previous meeting could happen again. This was reported by euro-football.ru.reports.
On 6 December, in Premier League Round 15, Liverpool and Leeds drew 3–3. The next clash will take place on 1 January and kick off at 22:30 (Tashkent time).
“Yes, I can go through that again, but to be honest I don’t want to face another one of those days. It’s part of football life: there are ups and downs. You have to accept it. For me, the biggest takeaway is how we fought when they switched to 4-3-3 in the last 20 minutes of the game. That’s exactly when they scored their goals,” Slot was quoted as saying by the club’s press service.
According to the coach, the first goal was awarded after VAR intervention, while the second was a very nice one. The third was conceded from a set piece. Slot also noted that Liverpool struggled more when Leeds played with four defenders, and that this was not the case in a five-at-the-back system.
Leeds are currently 16th in the league table. Liverpool are 4th with 32 points.
