Iker Casillas, who spent many years as a goalkeeper for Real Madrid, defended head coach Xabi Alonso amid public criticism. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
The former goalkeeper of Los Blancos stressed that the complaints about the Spanish specialist are unfounded and said it is still too early to judge his work at Real.
“He’s a guy who understands football. For example, if they were 12 points behind Barcelona and had been knocked out of the Cup, that would be different... I don’t like this attitude because I can’t understand it,” Casillas was quoted as saying by Bajo los palos.
After Matchday 18 in La Liga, Real are second in the standings with 42 points. Leaders Barcelona have collected four more points than the Madrid side.
