According to Goalpost, Abduqodir Husanov, the central defender of the Uzbekistan national team and England’s Manchester City, has been recognized as Asia’s best young footballer of 2025. This was reported by podrobno.uz.reports.
The past year was historic for the 21-year-old: in January he joined Manchester City and became the first Uzbek footballer to play in the English Premier League. In June, Husanov made a key contribution as the national team secured Uzbekistan’s qualification for the World Cup.
This season, the defender has featured in nine matches for the Citizens. In the Goalpost vote, he finished ahead of Abos Fayzullayev (Istanbul Basaksehir, Uzbekistan), Nestory Irankunda (Watford, Australia), Marselino Ferdinan (Oxford United, Indonesia), Lee Hana Bom (Midtjylland, Korea), Ali Jasim (Como / Al-Najma, Iraq), as well as other young nominees from Japan, Korea and Australia.
Husanov also ranked 86th in The Athletic’s list of the world’s 100 strongest footballers.
