Marotta says Inter are in talks over Cancelo

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta has commented on rumors that the Milan club could sign Al Hilal defender Joao Cancelo. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
According to Marotta, Denzel Dumfries will need around two more months to recover from his injury, and that situation is forcing the club to enter the market for a right-back. “We are discussing the Cancelo situation. Considering Dumfries’ absence, we need a right-back. Cancelo’s salary is high, so we are currently clarifying the details. But one thing is clear: Inter need a right-back,” Fabrizio Romano quotes Marotta as saying.
The club executive also confirmed that a potential deal for Cancelo could be linked to Al Hilal’s plans to strengthen their central defense. The Saudi club are considering Francesco Acerbi or Stefan de Vrij, and Cancelo could be part of a package deal.
Joao Cancelo joined Al Hilal from Manchester City in the summer of 2024 for €25 million. His contract runs until June 30, 2027. This season, the Portuguese player has made 6 appearances, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists.
It is worth recalling that Cancelo has previously played for Inter: in 2017–2018, the Milan club signed him on loan from Valencia.
