Bayern liken Upamecano contract delay to chewing gum

Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen gave an unusual comment on the drawn-out process of extending French defender Dayot Upamecano’s contract. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .

According to the club executive, the player postponing the signing of a new deal is reminiscent of chewing gum.

“If you chew gum for a long time, it eventually loses its flavor. That’s why this matter shouldn’t be dragged out like gum,” Dreesen was quoted as saying by T-online.

He added that Upamecano has been aware of the club’s offer for quite some time, but Bayern cannot wait indefinitely.

The defender’s current contract runs until June 30, 2026. In the 2025/2026 season, the French player made 21 appearances and scored 1 goal.
