At the start of the second half, Kyle Walker-Peters’ shot from the right flank was blocked by Williams. Crysencio Summerville then seemed to tuck the rebound away, but the goal was ruled out for offside. In the 55th minute, Nottingham Forest responded from a corner: Elliot Anderson’s delivery was headed into the far corner by Nicolas Dominguez to restore parity — 1–1. In the closing minutes, West Ham’s Walker-Peters fired from a tight angle, but the goalkeeper dealt with the danger.
The match was decided by a penalty in the 89th minute: Morgan Gibbs-White struck low down the middle from the spot, while the goalkeeper dived to the corner — 1–2. As a result, West Ham remained near the relegation zone, and the gap to the team in 17th increased to seven points.
