Former Lokomotiv president Nikolai Naumov commented on the work of Russia national team head coach Valery Karpin. This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .
According to Naumov, he rates Karpin highly as a person as well and noted that most of the coaching work in the national team is being done properly. In his view, the current positive atmosphere and internal discipline are the result of the coaching staff’s efforts. He also said he does not see any other worthy option for the Russia national team besides Karpin.
Recall that due to FIFA sanctions, the Russia national team has been playing only friendlies for nearly four years. In 2025, the national team has suffered just one defeat so far — a 0–2 loss to Chile in front of their home fans.
Earlier, Karpin combined his role with the Russia national team with work at Dynamo, but last autumn he decided to leave the Moscow club.
