Virus outbreak in Chelsea camp: losses ahead of Arsenal clash

An unpleasant situation has emerged at London’s Chelsea in recent days — a cold-like viral illness is said to be “going around” inside the club. The Blues’ head coach Liam Rosenior stated this openly and admitted it is seriously affecting the team’s preparation.
According to the coach, it was this illness that forced Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens to miss the match against Arsenal. In other words, it wasn’t a tactical call or rotation — health became the top priority.
Rosenior also did not rule out the possibility of the situation escalating. He noted the virus may have spread to other coaches or players as well. At the same time, the club’s medical staff are said to be working intensively to prevent further transmission.
“Today we held a separate meeting about handwashing and how not to catch an infection,” Rosenior stressed. In his view, Chelsea are facing a very tough and worrying period: the schedule is packed, the pressure is high, and at such a time every player’s fitness becomes a decisive factor for the team.
In short, for Chelsea, not only opponents on the pitch but also an “invisible opponent” inside the club — the virus — has become a test. The main task now is to control the illness, reduce absences, and keep the squad intact ahead of key matches.
