In the 7th round of the UEFA Champions League group stage, PSG defeated Sporting Lisbon 1-2 away. The drama of the game persisted until the last minute: for the hosts, Luis Suarez scored twice in the 74th and 90th minutes, and the Parisians' only goal was scored by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 79th minute.
Following the match, PSG head coach Luis Enrique shared sharp and emotional thoughts about the match. He emphasized that there is a simple reason for the team's defeat: the opponent scored two goals, while PSG was limited to one.
Enrique considered this match one of the best away performances for the Parisians in the Champions League. The coach didn't hide his satisfaction with his team's performance and said that if this spirit is maintained, he believes there will be great results ahead.
"We lost because they scored two goals, and we only one. This was probably our best away game in the Champions League. I am proud of my team. If we continue in this mood, we can go far," Enrique said.
However, the result deeply offended the coach. He described the game as "feeling unfair," emphasizing that one team actually dominated the field. According to Enrique, PSG attacked more, controlled more, created more opportunities - but football sometimes chooses precisely such a "cruel" scenario.
"The result is painful, even seems unfair. During the game, I actually saw one team on the field. We were stronger, although the opponent also played very well. It's hard to think about football now. Damn football," he added.
Following this result, PSG remains in 5th place in the Champions League standings with 13 points. Sporting has the same number of points - 13 points - and is in 6th place. So, the competition in the tournament becomes even more intense: every point is worth gold, and every mistake is immediately punished by the opponent.
