Uzbekistan youth set historic record in taekwondo

The World Taekwondo (WT) Youth Championships, which lasted six days in our capital, have come to an end. The Uzbekistan youth national team, participating in this prestigious competition, achieved the highest result in its history, bringing great joy to the fans.

Young athletes defending the honor of our country won 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal, finishing the competition with a total of 6 awards. Notably, this result was recorded for the first time in national taekwondo history—never before had 3 gold medals been achieved in a single world championship.

The gold medals were won by the following athletes:

Yosinbek Odilov in the -48 kg weight category,

Asadbek Samandarov in -51 kg,

and Mohidil O‘ktamjonova in -63 kg proved to be superior to all.

Silver medals were won by Ayubxon Nabiyev in -68 kg and Alisher Pak in +78 kg, while Shohjahon Xolmurodov earned a bronze medal in the -45 kg weight category.

Another important aspect—at the Tashkent-2026 world championships, our boys' team outperformed everyone in points and took first place. This is also considered a great achievement from a team result perspective.

The team, trained under head coach Konstantin Li, took third place in the overall team standings. According to experts, this result serves not only as today's victory but as a solid foundation for even greater wins in the future.

In short, this championship opened a new page for Uzbekistan taekwondo. The new generation has made its mark—and this is only the beginning.
