Borussia Dortmund's Norwegian defender Julian Ryerson has recorded a prestigious result in the German Bundesliga. The player assisted Ramy Bensebaini's goal from a corner in the match against Freiburg, which ended in a 4-0 victory. Goal.com reports this.
Through this result, Ryerson has climbed to 13th place on the list of defenders with the most assists in a single season. He currently has 13 assists to his name, equaling the record of stars such as Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer (1973/74), Philipp Max (2017/18), and David Raum (2021/22).
Currently, only two defenders in the Bundesliga have shown a better result than Ryerson. These are Jorginho with 14 assists (1991/92) and Alejandro Grimaldo with 15 assists (2023/24).
The Norwegian player has three more matches to break this record.
On the international stage, Ryerson also holds second place among defenders in the top five championships. He is surpassed only by Inter member Federico Dimarco, who broke the Italian Serie A record with 18 assists.
