"Inter" president Beppe Marotta has openly admitted that Barcelona is monitoring star defender Alessandro Bastoni ahead of the summer transfer window. While the club executive confirmed the Spanish team's interest, he emphasized that the central defender is currently happy at the "San Siro". This was reported by Goal.com xabar.
In an interview with Radio Anch'Io Sport, Marotta spoke openly about the connection between Barcelona and one of "Inter's" most valuable players. He described Bastoni as a great talent and a champion.
«I cannot deny that there is interest from Barcelona, but there is nothing concrete at the moment. If a player expresses a desire to leave, they will leave.
At the moment, he is happy to be with us, and we are happy with him», — said Marotta.
According to reports, the Catalan club views Bastoni as the perfect candidate to fill the left-footed central defender position. This comes at a time when Hansi Flick is looking for ways to strengthen his defensive line.
Marotta also spoke about the long-term project at "Inter" and the team's core. He emphasized the importance of having strong local players in the squad to defend the Serie A title next season.
