Raphael Guerreiro may leave Bayern and head to Portugal

Having said goodbye to Bayern, Raphael Guerreiro could play in the Portuguese league for the first time in his career. According to Sport Bild, Lisbon's Benfica is showing serious interest in signing the experienced player. Negotiations between the parties are reportedly already underway. This is reported by Goal.com reports .
The 32-year-old defender is positive about the idea of continuing his career in Portugal. Bayern announced at the end of March that they would not extend the contract of the player, which expires at the end of the season, so Benfica could acquire him on a free transfer.
Guerreiro moved to Bayern from Borussia Dortmund in 2023 at the request of Thomas Tuchel. However, he failed to show his best form at the Munich club and often remained on the bench. Under Vincent Kompany, he struggled to secure a spot in the starting XI.
Born and raised in France, the player has played for clubs such as Caen, Lorient, and Borussia Dortmund throughout his career. For Guerreiro, who has played 65 matches for the Portugal national team, playing in this country's championship will be a new challenge.
