However, team coach Alvaro Arbeloa strongly denied these claims. He stated that the conversation with Mbappe was misinterpreted and that the coach never said such things to the player. Arbeloa, in turn, reminded that he is the sole decision-maker regarding the lineup and that he had spoken with Mbappe before the match.
The French star emphasized that he is 100 percent fit and considers his benching to be purely a tactical decision. Nevertheless, fans gathered at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, unhappy with the player's recent performances and statements, greeted him with whistles.
Clarifying the situation, Arbeloa added that there are not four strikers in the team and that there should be no misunderstanding regarding his communication with Mbappe. According to the coach, the player's absence from the pitch was solely due to the coaching staff's game plan.
