Brandon Vazquez: Facing Lionel Messi and Inter Miami is a FIFA dream

For MLS stars, facing Lionel Messi and the legendary players on the Inter Miami roster evokes unique emotions. For many young players, competing against their childhood idols feels like a dream from a FIFA video game coming to life. This is reported by Goal.com reports .
Brandon Vazquez, currently playing for Austin FC, recalled his time with Monterrey when he faced Messi and Luis Suarez in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. He described his feelings: "When I saw Messi's ball control or his passes to Suarez on the pitch, I felt like I was dreaming. It was hard to believe I was standing on the same field as the players I used to control in FIFA as a kid."
For Seattle Sounders player Obed Vargas, the experience was even more personal. The young midfielder, who grew up admiring Sergio Busquets, admitted that instead of getting angry during a tense moment with Messi in a Leagues Cup match, he laughed. For him, being criticized or arguing with the world's best player felt surreal and funny.
However, not all players handle this pressure the same way. Some players are being criticized by fans and experts for trying to swap jerseys or making arrangements before the match instead of competing against Messi on the pitch. This situation highlights the fine line between respect for a star player and professional competition in MLS matches.
