USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino has stated that he is fully focused on the World Cup, despite reports linking him to the Italian club Milan. During a training camp in Atlanta, the manager addressed questions about his future, emphasizing that he is currently committed only to the national team project. According to reports in the Italian press, negotiations have taken place between the Milan management and Mauricio Pochettino. The coach did not deny these meetings but described them as friendly and merely an exploration of future possibilities. According to him, such dialogues are normal in the football world and do not affect his current contract.
"I am here and I am not going anywhere tomorrow. Our entire focus is on the national team until the end of the World Cup. If I weren't committed, why would I be sitting here right now?" the Argentine manager emphasized at a press conference.
The leadership of the U.S. Soccer Federation also stated that they are aware of the situation and that there is no cause for concern. According to organization head JT Batson, long-term plans are being discussed with Mauricio Pochettino regarding not only the senior team but also the development of the Olympic team and youth football.
