Atletico Madrid mocks Barcelona over Julian Alvarez saga

Atletico Madrid has mocked Barcelona in an unusual way in response to rumors surrounding striker Julian Alvarez. The Madrid club posted images on social media featuring Barcelona stars Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Pedri wearing Atletico Madrid kits. This move was a parody of the baseless reports from Barcelona regarding their interest in signing the Argentine forward, according to Goal.com reports.
The club also posted humorous "offers" for these players on social media. For instance, concert tickets, an annual subscription, and a bag of sunflower seeds were offered for Lamine Yamal. Through this, the Atletico Madrid leadership showed how ridiculous and far from reality they consider the transfer rumors spread by Barcelona. The club also shared a video hinting at the financial situation of the "Blaugrana."
In a statement, Atletico Madrid accused the Catalans of running a "smear campaign" to lower Julian Alvarez's price and pressure the player. "We spent only five minutes creating a fake post. In this day and age, reality can be easily distorted. Don't believe everything you see, especially if it involves Barcelona," the club's statement read.
In their statement, the Madrid side also made sharp references to Barcelona's history of refereeing scandals and instances of registering players through political assistance. The club reiterated that Julian Alvarez is not for sale and his transfer fee is no less than 130 million pounds. Atletico Madrid demonstrated its readiness to openly respond to any external pressure to retain its star.
So far, Barcelona has not officially responded to these accusations. However, relations between the two clubs have become extremely tense ahead of the summer transfer window. This rivalry in La Liga is now heating up not only on the pitch but also in the transfer market.
