Fabio Cannavaro speaks openly about the challenges of preparing for the World Cup

Uzbekistan’s national team continues its preparations for the start of the World Cup. With every training session, camp and player’s physical condition taking on special importance ahead of the tournament, the head coach gave an interview to the O‘FA press service and shared his thoughts on the team’s current situation.
According to the coach, the preparation process is continuing according to a pre-established plan. However, he did not hide the fact that the process has not been easy. The coaching staff is working on several issues related to some players’ match fitness, physical condition and recovery from injuries.
“The preparation process is continuing according to our plan. Of course, it is not easy. There are several reasons for this,” said the head coach of Uzbekistan’s national team.
According to him, one of the main problems concerns the players based in Iran’s league. Some of them have not played official matches for three or four months. This may have affected their match sharpness, physical preparation and competitive rhythm.
“For example, our players competing in Iran’s league did not appear in official matches for three or four months. In addition, some players have been recovering from injuries,” the coach added.
Match fitness is extremely important before a major tournament such as the World Cup. No matter how hard a player works in training, someone who has not taken part in competitive matches needs time to regain his match rhythm. At the World Cup, opponents are especially quick, physically strong and capable of punishing every mistake.
The recovery of several injured players also requires special attention from the coaching staff. In such situations, coaches and the medical team must find the right balance between returning a player to the pitch as quickly as possible and avoiding unnecessary risk. At the World Cup, the fitness of even one player can affect the plans of the entire team.
The head coach stressed that these issues are currently being resolved step by step. The team will not suddenly reach ideal condition, but it is working every day, training loads are being planned and the players are being adapted to the pace of the World Cup.
“We are currently working to resolve these issues step by step. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with the team’s work,” he said.
These words show that realism and confidence coexist in the national team’s work. The coach is not denying the difficulties, but he has also openly stated that he is pleased with the players’ attitude, effort and work at the training camp.
He noted that the players had been trying to give their all from the very first day of the camp. Despite the difficulties, fatigue, interruptions to their match activity and post-injury recovery, the team members are striving to work on themselves and improve.
“From the first day of the camp, the players have been trying to give their all. Despite the difficulties, they are striving to work on themselves and improve,” the head coach said.
This is one of the most important factors ahead of the World Cup. At a major tournament, skill and reputation alone are not enough. Team spirit, discipline, attitude to hard work and unity around a shared goal will be decisive.
Uzbekistan’s national team will participate in the World Cup for the first time in history. Therefore, this preparation process is not an ordinary training camp, but preparation for a new stage in the country’s football. The coaching staff must prepare the players for the big stage not only physically, but also mentally and tactically.
Strong opponents await Uzbekistan in the tournament. Every match at the World Cup will be a separate test. To step onto the pitch fully prepared, the team must make maximum use of every day of the current camp.
Judging by the coach’s comments, the team is still in the process of resolving certain problems. However, the most important thing is that the players have the desire to work, improve and give everything for the national team.
Difficulties before the World Cup are natural. The key is to manage them properly and on time and bring the team to optimal condition before the tournament begins. For Uzbekistan, every training session, recovery day and tactical exercise is now worth its weight in gold.
Fans expect the national team to deliver a worthy performance, show character and represent Uzbek football with distinction on the biggest stage. Preparation is not easy, but history is never written easily. Now everything depends on hard work, patience and the response on the pitch.
