In the city of Jülich in Germany, Europe’s most powerful exaflops supercomputer — Jupiter — was officially launched. It was created based on Nvidia processors. This supercomputer is capable of performing a quintillion operations per second, which is approximately equal to the performance of 10 million ordinary laptops.
The project was developed by France’s Atos IT group and Germany’s ParTec company. At the opening ceremony, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that this project will help Europe compete with the United States and China in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to experts, the supercomputer will be used in biotechnology, climate research and other fields of science, which will allow Europe to significantly reduce its dependence on foreign digital services.
