Another important technological breakthrough in the field of medicine occurred in Great Britain - a "smart" stethoscope based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology was developed and successfully tested.
This innovative device, created in collaboration with Imperial College London University and the NHS Trust medical service, detects a number of heart-related diseases - heart failure, arrhythmia (atrial fibrillation), and valve problems - in just 15 seconds.
This stethoscope is a modern version of the traditional device, which not only listens to sound but also performs the function of an ECG - an electrocardiogram. It analyzes heart rate, blood flow, and overall cardiac function, converting the data into a diagnosis sent to a smartphone using artificial intelligence.
The device was tested on 12 thousand patients, and the results amazed doctors. The possibility of detecting heart failure has doubled, and the indicator of atrial fibrillation has tripled.
Doctors note that this technology allows for the early detection of heart diseases, which in many cases initially proceed asymptomatically. This is of great importance in saving lives and preventing serious complications.
