Apple Unveils iPhone 17: 120Hz Display Comes to the Base Model

Apple has officially announced the iPhone 17, the new base model in its smartphone lineup. According to Rozetked, the Plus version is gone, replaced by the newly introduced iPhone Air. Still, the iPhone 17 brings some of the most anticipated upgrades.

The headline feature? ProMotion support at 120Hz — finally arriving in a non-Pro iPhone. The display also got slightly bigger, now 6.3 inches, and peaks at 3000 nits in brightness.

The screen is now protected by Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says is twice as scratch-resistant as the previous generation.

Under the hood, the phone runs on the new A19 chip (not the Pro version). Apple claims a 20% boost in video performance over the iPhone 16.

As usual, the battery size isn’t disclosed, but Apple promises 8 more hours of video playback compared to its predecessor.

One more pleasant surprise — the base storage has doubled to 256GB. The price remains competitive at $799, with sales beginning on September 19.

Apple finally gives the base iPhone the premium treatment. Are you planning to upgrade?
