Elon Musk's xAI uses gas turbines at Mississippi facility

Elon Musk's xAI is operating about 50 natural gas turbines at a data center in Mississippi. These power plants remain unregulated due to a loophole in state law, as they are classified as "mobile" units because they are mounted on trailers. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .

The NAACP has filed a lawsuit due to the environmental damage caused by this situation. Plaintiffs argue that harmful emissions from the turbines are further degrading air quality in an already polluted area. The organization is seeking a court-ordered temporary halt to xAI's operations.

Lawyers from the Southern Environmental Law Center argue that labeling the turbines as "mobile" violates federal law. According to regulations, trailer-mounted power plants should be considered stationary sources and must comply with relevant environmental standards.

Currently, xAI is operating 46 turbines, even though only 15 have been officially permitted. Although the company previously stated that some of the turbines were temporary, their number is actually increasing.
