Tu-214 aircraft deliveries postponed to 2027

The launch of Russia's import-substituted Tu-214 passenger aircraft for commercial flights has been postponed to 2027. According to the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), the first completed liner will be delivered to Red Wings under a leasing scheme. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

It is worth noting that the import-substituted Tu-214 model was certified at the end of 2025. Currently, Red Wings is the only commercial carrier using this type of aircraft. UAC initially planned to deliver 11 aircraft, but their exact cost has not yet been disclosed.

Additionally, S7 Airlines has placed an order for 100 aircraft. However, the airline is requesting that the cockpit be adapted for a two-person crew. The current import-substituted version is designed for a three-person crew consisting of two pilots and a flight engineer.

Experts believe that serial aircraft with a two-person crew configuration may only be commissioned by 2029. This highlights the technical complexity of the project and the ongoing modernization processes.
