AI in Logistics: Ozon Implements 'Smart' Goods Sorting

Ozon is actively developing its logistics automation system. To achieve this, Narrow-Belt Sorters designed for large and containerized goods are being introduced. By the end of the first half of 2026, the company plans to fully transition to its own mathematical model for sorting and shipping goods. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

According to the company's press service, the installation of sorters capable of handling 100 directions will double the number of automated processes. As a result, the efficiency of sorting containerized boxes will increase 27-fold compared to sorting individual parcels. The new system changes the composition of the goods flow, processing products in containers rather than as individual items.

Currently, Ozon has launched over 10 belt sorters at six logistics centers across the country's main regions. By the end of 2026, the company plans to increase their number to over 70 across 55 fulfillment centers. On these 'smart' conveyors, each parcel moves on its own belt, with barcodes read by 6D scanners, and weight and volume checked.

Furthermore, Ozon is implementing 3D sorters in warehouses that can handle up to 600 directions and process 10,000 parcels per hour. By the end of the year, the number of such devices is planned to reach 330. These measures help distribute the load between logistics facilities and optimize transit flows.
