Oura introduces the new Ring 5, now thinner and lighter

Oura has officially announced the fifth generation of its popular smart ring, the Ring 5. The new device is 40 percent smaller than its predecessor and features more accurate sensors and improved battery life. According to Oura product manager Maz Brumand, responding to user requests for a more compact design, the ring's thickness has been reduced by 30 percent and its width by approximately 2 millimeters. This is reported by Techcrunch.com .

The Ring 5 will be available in six colors, including updated Gold, a copper-like Deep Rose, as well as Silver, Brushed Silver, Black, and Stealth finishes. The starting price for the device is $399. For comparison, the Ring 4 was sold for $349. The new smart ring will begin shipping on June 4th and is currently available for pre-order.

Technically, the Ring 5 has been significantly improved. Its battery life now lasts from 6 to 9 days (compared to 5–8 days for the Ring 4). The sensors have also been redesigned for better contact with skin and are equipped with stronger LED lights to ensure high accuracy across different skin tones. These changes come at a time of increased market activity from competitors like RingConn and Ultrahuman.

From a software perspective, Oura has launched the “Health Radar” feature. This system monitors biometric signals in the background and identifies changes that require user attention. New features include blood pressure signals and a nocturnal respiratory monitoring system. Specifically, by tracking blood pressure changes during sleep, it is now possible to detect hidden cardiovascular risks early.
