SpaceX makes an unexpected decision: Starship 13th flight postponed

SpaceX, the company founded by Elon Musk, has been forced to delay the next test flight of its largest and most powerful rocket, the Starship system. Originally scheduled for July 23, the mission was pushed back by one day due to unfavorable weather conditions. Although this decision was unexpected for space enthusiasts and industry experts, the company considers this step necessary for safety and data accuracy. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

According to information provided by Ixbt.com, the flight delay was caused by meteorological conditions rather than technical malfunctions in the rocket. SpaceX specialists aimed to capture high-precision images of the ship's thermal protection layer (heat shield) from the ground during the flight. However, cloudy weather and low visibility hindered the execution of this important scientific task.

Thermal protection and dynamic pressure test

The main goal of this 13th test flight is to study how the Starship vessel behaves under the high dynamic pressure that occurs when passing through the dense layers of the atmosphere. As the rocket ascends at high speed, the load on its hull reaches a maximum level. Therefore, it is crucial for engineers to visually analyze the condition of the protective layer.

SpaceX representatives explained that without high-quality images, the scientific value of the mission is significantly reduced. The company expects weather conditions to be nearly ideal for the next attempt. This will allow not only a successful launch but also the full collection of all telemetric data.

Preparation process and new date

Before the flight was halted, the SpaceX team had completed the fueling process for the Super Heavy Booster 20. The engine systems had also undergone a full inspection and were ready for launch. However, weather data received in the final minutes changed the plans.

According to the new schedule, the Starship flight is expected to take place on July 24. This series of tests is of decisive importance for SpaceX in its projects to transport humans to Mars and explore the Moon. Each delay is viewed as an additional opportunity to further perfect the system.

This process is also interesting for space technology enthusiasts in Uzbekistan, as Starship is expected to drastically reduce the costs of launching satellites into orbit in the future. Currently, the eyes of the whole world are fixed on the Starbase site in Texas.
