
On March 12, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as part of his state visit to France.
The issues of further developing effective cooperation with this influential structure in the UN system, as well as practical aspects of preparing for and holding the 43rd session of the General Conference of the organization in the city of Samarkand in the fall of this year, were discussed.
It was noted with satisfaction that the multifaceted partnership is at a high level today.
Resolutions on the use of information and children's education were adopted at the initiative of Uzbekistan.
Our country became a member of the International Center for the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. Bukhara joined the "Creative Cities Network". A UNESCO department was opened at the Silk Road University in Samarkand. Last year, the implementation of 7 new projects in the fields of education, culture, digital and innovative technologies began.
The Turanian steppes and the Zarafshan-Karaqum corridor, silk weaving, pottery, traditions of playing the rubab and iftar, "Archive of the Divankhana of the Emir of Bukhara", "Album of Turkestan", "Photo Album of Khudoybergan Devonov" were included in the UNESCO Special Lists.
It is worth noting that the 43rd session of the General Conference, which will be held in Samarkand for the first time in 40 years, will be held outside the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. This event coincides with the 80th anniversary of the organization.

Director-General Audrey Azoulay highly appreciated the fruitful cooperation with Uzbekistan and expressed gratitude to the head of our state for the extensive preparations for the upcoming event.
