If the only evidence is the person's confession, he will not be punished
The fifth plenary session of the Senate discussed a law that provides for amendments and additions to certain legislative acts aimed at strengthening the guarantees of the activities of the courts and the rights and freedoms of citizens in connection with the adoption of the new edition of the Constitution.

It is noted that the discussed law stipulates that the Criminal Procedure Code and the Law "On Courts" stipulate that a suspect, accused or defendant is not required to prove his innocence and may exercise the right to remain silent at any time.

At the same time, it is stipulated that if a person's admission of guilt is the only evidence against him, he cannot be found guilty or punished. The right of a witness participating in the trial not to testify against himself and his close relatives is being introduced.

The law establishes that a judge may be removed from consideration of a specific case, suspended from office, or transferred to another position only in accordance with the procedure and on the grounds established by law. It also stipulates that any interference with the authority of a judge and his activities related to the administration of justice is prohibited, and that they are not accountable.

The scope of the Supreme Court's right of legislative initiative is clarified, and it is also indicated that it may introduce issues only within its powers.

The law was approved by the senators.
