50 kg of Opium from Tajikistan Exposed: Hidden in a Truck
A rapid operation carried out by the State Security Service in Khorezm region successfully uncovered a large quantity of illegal narcotic — opium — from illicit circulation.

According to the Khorezm regional department of the State Security Service, a citizen born in 1990, residing in Sherobod district of Surkhandarya region, was detained during the operation. He was caught transporting approximately 50 kilograms — specifically, 49 kg and 599 grams — of opium hidden in a secret compartment of a DAF-brand truck to the Turtkul district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

It was determined that the narcotic had been smuggled into Uzbekistan from the Republic of Tajikistan and was intended for sale within Khorezm region.

Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against this person under Article 28,246, part 2 ("Violation of rules for lawful handling of narcotic substances") and Article 273, part 5 ("Storage and transportation of narcotic substances in especially large amounts") of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied by court decision.

In addition, further investigative actions are underway to identify his potential accomplices and take legal action against them.
