In Uzbekistan, propane prices have seen a sharp rise since early June 2025, according to UPL.uz. Data from the Uzbek Commodity Exchange shows that on May 30, the average price of one ton of propane was 5.12 million soums. By June 24, it had reached 6.689 million soums — a rise of 1.569 million soums in less than a month.
Wholesale prices of liquefied gas have followed a similar trend, increasing by 30.6% since the beginning of June. This indicates a steady upward trend in the energy market. From June 22 to June 24 alone, propane prices increased by another 6.6%, drawing further attention to the exchange.
At the same time, trading volumes have declined: 1,853 tons were sold on June 23, compared to 1,502 tons on June 24.
Such fluctuations in the propane market are not new for Uzbekistan. Between June 5 and September 5 of 2024, the price of propane increased from 5.3 million to 8.9 million soums per ton, marking a 68% rise. This sharp increase caused widespread public concern. By November 2024, after prices had nearly doubled, the Antimonopoly Committee introduced a 20% cap on the trading spread above the starting price.
The current price surge may be due to several factors, including changes in supply logistics, global energy price shifts, and local market conditions. The recent drop in trading volume may signal consumer caution amid rising prices or a limited supply from sellers.
In Uzbekistan, propane is used not only in industry but also widely for household needs, particularly in rural areas where gas cylinders remain a key energy source. According to 2024 data, about 60% of regional households rely on liquefied gas. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
