Serious changes have been implemented in the system of protecting women from pressure and violence in Uzbekistan. New additions and amendments have been made to the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution “On measures to improve the system for protecting women from pressure and violence.” According to the updated resolution, a new position has been introduced in the regions — deputy district (city) hokim and head of the family and women’s department. Now these leaders will supervise the activities of responsible officials of state bodies regarding the protection of women's rights and the prevention of violations.
According to the new document, if state bodies or organizations do not take the necessary measures against violence, the holder of this position submits a legal presentation to the responsible leaders. Through this, special attention will be paid to eliminating factors that cause legal violations and encroachments on women's rights.
The document also, for the first time, clearly defines the concept of “psychocorrection”: a set of special psychological and pedagogical measures aimed at eliminating the personal shortcomings of persons prone to violence and adapting their behavior to the requirements of society has been introduced.
Now, in the list of measures that authorized bodies — local government, education and health authorities, psychologists, and public organizations — must implement within one month when issuing protective orders, passing a “correction program” is mandatory.
In conclusion: the new resolution is aimed at systematic innovation in the field of protecting women and at creating clear mechanisms for combating violations. The system of psychocorrection and new leaders is expected to become an important step in ensuring the safety of women. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
