After the reconstruction of Shota Rustaveli Street, passenger traffic will double.

The Ministry of Transport announced the preliminary results of the large-scale reconstruction and modernization work on Shota Rustaveli Street. According to experts' calculations, once the project is fully completed, passenger traffic will reach about 300,000 people per day, and transportation will be significantly simplified.

Within the framework of the new system, it is planned to increase the number of bus routes by 40 percent, bringing the number of daily trips from 2 thousand to 2.8 thousand. This will allow for a twofold increase in passenger traffic and cargo transportation.

After the completion of the reconstruction, the travel time for passengers will also be significantly reduced: the average travel time will be reduced from 25 minutes to 18 minutes, and the average speed of buses will be increased from 18.5 km/h to 23.6 km/h. Also, the movement interval is approximately 7 minutes, which creates convenience and time savings for passengers.

The street infrastructure will also be radically renewed: 11 new bus stops, about 500 modern parking lots, bicycle paths, and 21 pedestrian and bicycle paths will be built. Of the 10 lanes on the road, 6 are for cars, 2 are for buses, and the remaining 2 are for parking and passenger safety.

According to the Ministry of Transport, after the completion of the reconstruction, the bus schedule will be re-optimized, specific measures will be taken to prevent traffic jams and ensure safe and convenient transport services for passengers.
